Comparing to two-copper-pair & fix rate of HDSL transmission system, the MSDSL (Multi-rate Symmetrical DSL) can transport a variety of speed over one pair of copper wire. For N64 kbps broadband data service, the MSDSL has the benefit of cost saving and longer transmission distance. The rate of payload on the line can range from 128 kbps to 2048 kbps and the data rate for network interface is N64 kbps. Rate-adaptive feature let the equipment to fit different line conditions. The maximum reach can be longer than 8 Km by using 0.5mm (AWG 24) twisted pair. The CAPSPAN-5000 supports variety of network interfaces including X.21, V.35, RS-449, EIA-530, Ethernet Bridge, T1 or E1, so it can satisfy different applications such as GSM networking, LAN extension, Internet access, video conference, T1 and E1 transmission.
