CAPSPAN-7000/8000
High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (HDSL) enables a network provider to deliver full T1/E1 or N*64Kb/s data services via two pairs of traditional local loops, without having to remove bridge-tapes and installing repeaters or any Data Service Units, and consequently, cutting provisioning time and maintenance costs.
Utilizing the HDSL technology, a telephone company can minimize the return on its existing investment in the ubiquitous cooper loops by increasing the bandwidth of cooper wires. It will now able to deliver voice, data, and multimedia services to almost all of its customers in its serving areas without having to wait for the costly and time-consuming of new transmission media.
The 7000 series, T1 HDSL, complies with ANSI standard, whereas the 8000 series, E1 HDSL, compiles with ETSI standard.
Potential applications for CAPSPAN systems include switched T1/E1 or N*64K services such as dial-up video conference, distant learning, and home entertainment. It also delivers new services such as Switched Multi-Megabit Data service (SMDS) and frame relay with speed and economy.
